Le Petit Beaufort Brut Nature 2010
The Petit Beaufort 2010 Brut Nature was our first encounter with Quentin's wines and it reflects his aim of producing a simple, straight and unpretentious wine. A champagne in all but name.
One year into his conversion to Organic Certification Quentin harvested the fruit for Le Petit Beaufort 2010. He had already expanded his vineyard to 8.5 hectares and this came from a 5.5 hectare plot called La Grande Charme.
Officialy a 'Sparkling wine of France', as it's just outside Champagne's boundary, it nevertheless displays all the characteristics that wines from the Beaufort dynasty are renowned for.
A blast of seaside ozone mellows to reveal hints of peach and pear. This is worth leaving a while in the glass, whereupon you could forgive yourself for imagining that you were drinking a still white from the Côte D'Or.
